How IE Hub helped a mum-of-two take back control of debt

When one of our customers hit a rock bottom point in her life, so did her finances. Here is how IE Hub helped her take control of her debt.

Vicki Finnegan, 36, from the East Midlands had worked her way up the ranks in retail. During the pandemic, she was sadly made redundant as part of a wider job cutting exercise. With a family tragedy to contend with, as well as a 10 month old baby and a three-year old toddler, she felt like she had more than the world on her shoulders.

“I’d worked my way up the ranks in a job that I loved and was in complete control of all aspects of my life,” comments Vicki. “And then everything fell apart in a matter of weeks.

Vicki relied on universal credit to help with bills. She went from earning £2,000 a month to £500 a month and she knew that the daunting task of contacting all of her creditors – who she was in debt to – was just days away. “I was absolutely dreading it. Not only the thought of picking up the phone to tell them I was struggling, but the amount of time it would take, too. I’m a proud person and I didn’t ask to be in this situation. It was just one of life’s twists and turns that had spiralled out of control.

Then, IE Hub stepped in…

“My energy company were first on my list and were really helpful. They referred me to IE Hub to complete an income and expenditure form online, where I could detail all of my financial information in one place.

“It wasn’t daunting at all and in fact helped me gain real clarity. The great thing for me was that this form could then be sent to all of my creditors. I didn’t have to have the awkward and shameful conversations I was so dreading.

“The form was straightforward to do and took the pressure off me right away. I didn’t have to share my story with any individual. It felt like a massive weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

“The other good part about the process is that I now have a budget and a plan in place to get back on track. Now I can, once again, start to get myself in a better financial position and concentrate on starting my own new business.”

IE Hub CEO’s comments…

Dylan Jones, CEO of IE Hub says that sadly, Vicki’s story is just one of many he is witnessing in this current financial crisis.

He comments: “The platform is a sensible way for anyone to manage their incomings and outgoings. Whether they’re in a vulnerable situation or just want to take back control of their finances.

“We’re so very pleased that we’ve been able to help Vicki take this important first step towards taking control of her debt and that she has her financial information stored and a financial road map in place.

“By the click of a button, she’s now able to share her financial information with anyone who needs it. Importantly it can be updated when financial circumstances change and improve.”
